a miniature adventure

last night, my mother and i walked to a bible study at our neighbors' across the rather large pond. she wanted to take the road, but i coerced her into going around the pond--through pasture and over dam. when we came to the dam, we found it was flooded over with water from the heavy rains we've had recently. so, rather than go back around the pond and take the road after all, we forged ahead, continuing on through the pasture to come out at the road our neighbors live on. the moment we tumbled out of the pasture into the ditch littered with old tires, a sheriff's deputy drove by. "y'all alright?" he looked a bit concerned over our sanity. we tripped over our own tongues and each other's, trying to explain, until he drove off.

after the study, armed with a flashlight in the dark, mom was thinking of skunks when she insisted we take the road back. i was thinking of snakes when i agreed.

hehe...this reminds me of my brother's bachelor party when we were trying to explain to the Deputy what a non-alcoholic bachelor party was :)
